Clearing our minds is so important, especially clearing our subconscious mind, because our subconscious mind is really what is in control of our lives. When we do new things like learning how to ride a bike or driving a car we use our conscious mind to take in the new information and skills required. But once we have learned those skills and know how to do it ‘off by heart’, that means it has gone deep into our subconscious mind and muscle memory. That is why we can do things like drive somewhere and not even realise where we are going until we arrive at our destination and think ‘how did I get here?’ 

Our subconscious mind holds every single memory from the time we were conceived. All of our positive and negative experiences are in our subconscious, which have helped create the beliefs that we hold today. Beliefs are not facts. Beliefs are formed from an experience we have, which has been filtered through our perception, thoughts, emotions and previous beliefs. As we get older and have new experiences our beliefs can changed based on the new information coming in. When we stubbornly hold onto a belief, it can be helpful to take a deep breath, go within and ask ‘why do I believe this?’ And ‘is this belief serving me?’ 

These questions are so important to ask because so many of us walk around, full of beliefs about the world and other people, not even knowing if those beliefs are truly our own. As young children we take on the beliefs of our family, culture, and religion. Then we go to school, where some of those are challenged and new beliefs about the world are formed based on the education we receive. As we develop friendships and relationships with partners, get jobs and interact with more and more people our beliefs evolve. The important thing to remember here is that beliefs evolve, as we learn and grow. 

So many of us can get stuck in our beliefs, thinking that, that is just the way it is. But this isn’t the case. We receive new information every day and have new experiences. It is important to stay open minded and be willing to let go of the beliefs that are holding us back. We live in universe that mirrors to us what our beliefs are so that we can become aware of them and learn from them. If a woman had an arrogant father growing up and believes that all men are chauvinistic then chauvinistic men will continue to show up in their life. If a man believes that women will only want to be with him if he has a high paying job, then he will continue to attract women into his life that only want to be with a ‘rich man’. The universe is not being unkind to them, it is just bringing into your reality what is inside of your subconscious mind. 

If you are not happy with the way things are showing up in your world because you don’t have enough money, or you can’t lose weight, or your boss keeps picking on you and no one else at work, or your kids won’t stop fighting, the easiest thing to do is to blame everyone else in your life for what is going wrong. But this makes you feel powerless. The most empowering thing you can do, is to realise that these things are going on because of beliefs that you have in your subconscious. You may not even realise the majority of beliefs that you have because often they are not even yours. They have just been adopted from family, friends, the media, etc. The great news is that beliefs can be cleared and you can create new beliefs that support you.  

There are some great techniques that you can use to help clear beliefs such as; 

Become Aware of Your Self-Talk 

Becoming aware of your self-talk is huge. Even though this is on the conscious level, this is one of the most important things you can do, because you talk to yourself all day everyday whether you realise it or not. If you spend all day criticising yourself for every little thing you do and stress about things you can’t control, you will be re-enforcing negative beliefs into your subconscious mind. Not to mention you will feel awful about yourself. Try to become more aware of how you talk to yourself, and replace negative thoughts with thoughts that are kind and make you feel better. As a single mum of three, I often remind myself, ‘I am only one person and I am doing the best I can. I am a good mum’. So many of us would never speak to another person the way we talk to ourselves. Why do we treat ourselves this way? Put some affirmations up where you will see them, set reminders on your phone and surround yourself with people that appreciate you. Talk to yourself how you talk to your young child or beloved pet. No matter who you are, you deserve that self-respect, love and care.  

Kinesiology 

Kinesiology is an amazing form of energy healing that allows the practitioner to communicate with your body through muscle testing. I have been seeing a kinesiologist for over 15 years and the reason why I love it so much is because of the powerful way it can clear beliefs in our subconscious mind. Incredible authors like Bruce Lipton, who wrote The Biology of Belief, are helping us to understand the connection between our beliefs and the body and the impact it has on our health. We can literally turn on or turn off cancer cells with our beliefs. Humans are that powerful. Through kinesiology, the practitioner can find out what the negative belief is and where it is being held in the body, whether it is in the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual level or in the aura or whether it is held from a past life. Another thing I love about kinesiology is that you don’t have to talk about or relive any traumas. You simply tell the practitioner what symptoms you are experiencing and they will figure out the root cause of the issue.   

EFT/Tapping 

EFT Emotional Freedom Technique or Tapping is a unique technique that combines the principles of ancient Chinese acupressure with modern psychology to help clear negative beliefs and emotions. By focusing on the negative belief or emotion and tapping on the specific acupressure points you are able to release the blocked energy and literally reprogram the subconscious mind with new, positive beliefs that support you. There are eight different points that you tap with your fingertips, whilst repeating different phrases related to the issue you are trying to resolve. You start off with the negative beliefs and move onto new positive beliefs as you go. You can use tapping to help with anything from health problems and fears to creating more abundance. You can either do it yourself, or follow along with someone who has created a tapping script. If you want to learn more about tapping I highly recommend tapping along with Brad Yates on YouTube. He has hundreds of videos covering everything you can think of. It is a great way to start your day! 

Hypnosis and Self Hypnosis  

Hypnosis is a powerful way to talk directly to the subconscious mind and clear away negative beliefs. In order to access the subconscious mind, a hypnotherapist will help you to relax into the Theta brainwave which is the optimal state of mind to program your mind and create your reality. The hypnotherapist will use the power of suggestion and visualisation to help you reframe your thoughts and beliefs about a particular issue or situation so you can replace your negative beliefs with more empowering beliefs. By seeing a hypnotherapist they can tailor the session to suit your individual needs. Otherwise you can purchase self-hypnosis tracks which are design to help people with common issues such as quitting smoking, losing weight, increasing confidence, etc.  

NLP 

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is another powerful technique that can be used to reprogram the negative beliefs in our subconscious minds. NLP practitioners work with their clients to identify and understand the root issues of the negative beliefs. They use techniques such as visualisation, language patterns and reframing to help their clients change their perception of life experiences so they can feel more empowered. In any situation in life, if you really look, you can find both a positive and a negative in the experience. Some people naturally see the glass as half empty and others see it as half full. Through NLP you can learn the skills so you can always see the glass as half full and find the valuable learning lesson. NLP is becoming more widely used by therapists, psychologists, life coaches and similar practitioners to help their clients get better results in life. Music Frequencies and Subliminal messaging 

Did you know that we are actually being affected by different frequencies in music and subliminal messaging all day every day? Society uses different frequencies and subliminal messaging in advertisements and in the music industry to influence us in certain ways, but they can actually be used to heal us too. Music frequencies have been found to have a powerful impact on the human mind and the body. Researchers have discovered that it is possible to clear negative beliefs and emotions by listening to specific frequencies in music. These specific frequencies resonate with the energy centres in our bodies and release blockages, which promotes healing on a deep level. Subliminal messages can also be used in relaxing music which is spoken directly to our subconscious mind, just like hypnosis, so it can clear negative beliefs and replace them with healing suggestions. Joe Vitale and Matthew Nixon have created some beautiful healing music which include subliminal messaging in their albums Aligning to Zero and At Zero. There are also entire playlists on Spotify and YouTube that have different healing frequencies for different issues such as; 285 Hz which is for Healing, 1174 Hz which is for Balance, 2172 Hz which is for Spiritual Enlightenment and there are even Angel Frequencies 111 Hz, 222 Hz 333 Hz, etc. I listen to a playlist as I go to sleep each night and find it very therapeutic.
